She earned a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree from the prestigious IIT Bombay before pursuing her postgraduate studies in physics at the University of California. In 1998, her brilliance landed her at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), where she worked as a postdoctoral fellow, honing her craft and skyrocketing to the top of her field.

Kalyani's work didn't go unnoticed, and in 2012, she was awarded the James Webb Space Telescope Award for Outstanding Achievement by the European Space Agency. One of the shining lights of Kalyani's exceptional work was her project management of the Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), one of the four core science instruments of the James Webb Space Telescope and a critical component in capturing the deepest and most breathtaking images of the universe yet seen.

Kartik earned his BA in physics at Grinnell College in 1993, before pushing on to earn his MS in physics at the University of Minnesota in 1995, where he specialized in physics education. Not one to be content with the ordinary, Kartik went on to obtain an MS and Ph.D. in astrophysics from the renowned University of Maryland in College Park in 2001. Following the completion of his studies, he joined Caltech as a postdoctoral fellow and staff member, where his exceptional skills and deep passion for the cosmos shined.

A true visionary with an unrelenting passion for expanding humanity's knowledge of the cosmos, Kartik Sheth is a program scientist working wonders at NASA's Science Mission Directorate's division of astrophysics. His boundless intellect and expertise have contributed immensely to the division's ongoing projects, including the legendary Hubble Fellowship Program, the space-based observatories SOFIA, Spitzer, James Webb, and the Origins mission. As a member of the communications team, Kartik serves as the division's lead for public relations, sharing with the world the miracles of science and the wonders of space exploration. He also carries the mantle of an IR discipline scientist, where he plays a critical role in managing the low-energy astrophysics R&A portfolio. This extraordinary leader was recognized and honoured with NASA's prestigious Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award in 2022 for his fearless and outstanding work as the organization's anti-racism action group leader.
