From the Malik Clan

Music is one's true soulmate. Expecting nothing in return, it gives you the best moments of life. College reunions, candlelight dinners, weddings, family time, everything starts from music and ends at music. From adding spice to our mundane life to making our every moment beautiful, music is the perfect solution for all our problems.

Why do we like music? A simple page of lyrics converted into a melody with instruments enhancing the feel. This is music and there’s nothing inherently extravagant about it. But how does it make us feel good? Research conducted by McGill University has proved that music takes us into a different world, a world full of ecstasy and pleasure. Listening to music activates the limbic and paralimbic areas of the brain that are connected to euphoric reward responses, like the ones we experience from drugs, good food, and sex. It can be concluded that music is the next best drug and it might be far more addictive and lethal.

Have you ever experienced those involuntary tear droplets while humming a tune? The magic behind this lies entirely in the hands of the composers who are no less than ‘psyche’ soothers. They weave the music in such a manner that it takes us to an immeasurable height of ecstasy from where we don’t want to climb down.

As Dick Clark clearly says, “Music is the soundtrack of your life.” More than the tunes that you hum while alone in a lift or enjoying pleasant weather on your balcony, music is therapy. It moves people and it connects people in ways that no other medium can ever do. From pulling the strings of the heart to reminding us of those beautiful moments of the past, music is no less than a miraculous medicine.

Imagine a scene when beautiful tunes and a handsome singer come together to enthral the audience with their lethal combination. A man with his intriguing voice pulls the attention of his fans like a magnet and the fans who take pride in calling themselves Amaalians, he is the one and only, Amaal Malik.

Born in the house of musicians, Amaal is the elder son of Daboo Malik, who is a famous Indian music director, and Jyothi Malik. His younger brother, Armaan Malik, too is a famous musician who drives the audience crazy with his voice and romantic gestures. Amaal started his preparation from a very early age to enter the musical arena.

He started his music training at the age of 8 and was fond of playing the piano. After completing his education, Malik went on his path to discover his musical talents. Piano lessons and guidance under the tutelage of some of the famous musicians in the Indian music industry including his grandfather, Sardar Malik, Amaal was like a perfectly polished and brand-new musician to be launched on the stage.

Malik kickstarted his career after completing his 10th. He assisted Amar Mohile with the soundtrack of Sarkar and Shootout at Lokhandwala at the age of 15. He then went on to assist his father in films like Kisaan, in which he collaborated on a remix track of Mere Desh Ki Dharti with a pop singer, Daler Mehndi. From here started his journey to the path of becoming the heartthrob of millions.

For three years, Amaal produced background scores for many famous singers like Salim-Sulaiman and Sandeep Chowta for films like Rowdy Rathore, R… Rajkumar, Heroine, Youngistaan, Phata Poster Nikla Hero and many more hits. It was the very first time when he worked as a solo background scorer in Khwaab, a sports film and he also received many appreciations for the same.

The turning point of Amaal’s career came to the forefront in 2014, when he debuted as a music composer. He composed three amazing songs for Salman Khan’s Jai Ho and one for Khoobsurat. Overwhelming the audience with his musical charm, he went on to bag his Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for Sooraj Dooba Hai in Roy.

Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’s Tera Yaar Hoon Main has become the perfect song for our reunion parties while Kabir Singh’s album compels us to express our undying love for our partners. All these songs of Malik have not only become huge sensations but he also bagged some reputed awards including Mirchi Music Awards and Filmfare Award.

Days passed and Amaal Malik gave us some of the most soulful hits that make a special place in our Spotify playlist. Songs like O Khuda, Soch Na Sake, Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon make us reminisce those moments of our life when we finally met our love.
