World Plumbing Day is celebrated on the 11th of March as an international event initiated by the World Plumbing Council. The primary motive of this event is to mark the importance of plumbing and how it is associated with good health, safety, and sustainability which together play an important role in the community. The concept of World Plumbing Day is to make people aware of the important functions of plumbing, how it works to preserve good health, and to aim for developing a disease-free world for millions of people. This is how the concept of World Plumbing Day was introduced. In collaboration with the World Health Organisation, the council works for the promotion of safe plumbing benefits. In 2010, they decided to dedicate a single day of respect to plumbing as a profession and concept.

At present, continents including Europe, Africa, and Australia organize events and programs to celebrate international events and to observe the importance of healthy sanitation and good plumbing. In countries like China, England, India, Canada, Germany, both North and South America, and others, where the industries and leaders including the Government, community-based sectors, and policymakers popularize the event. World Plumbing Day understands the crucial bridge between plumbing techniques, facilities, and health.

Undoubtedly, bathrooms play the most important role in maintaining a healthy life worldwide. The key concept of this day is to understand the crucial benefits of constructing a highly equipped plumbing technology to cut down the germs from their paths and build a well-sanitized environment for the masses.

It is very difficult to assess the exact amount of germs and bacteria in one's bathroom, but it is that place that can give birth to some harmful infectious microbes such as Bacillus, Cocci, Gram-positive Rods, Gram-negative Rods, and others. Such bacteria are very harmful to humans and can cause health diseases such as pneumonia and skin infections. In other words, good plumbing is not only bound to keep our bathrooms clean and sanitized but it also ensures the safest and quickest ways to keep our health protected from infectious diseases.

Every plumber has a notable responsibility when it comes to sanitation and health. Hence, on World Plumbing Day, one should celebrate their contribution and should recognise the inputs of their local plumbers for their work in every possible way. Along with thoroughly educating ourselves about plumbing technically, we should also learn and educate ourselves about plumbing and household hygiene. Awareness about toilet blockages, pipe and drainage cleaning, and primary repairing can help one to avoid major damages and accidents… Keeping our pipes and toilet clean and hassle-free can only ensure our safety and good health.
