World Thinking Day

What would you think thinking would be most known for? This question might sound absurd but it is not. Thinking is surely related to brainstorming most of the time however, the day dedicated to it, World Thinking Day, is celebrated by and for the Girl Scouts and Guide organizations all over the world.

As shocking as it might be, there is a whole day dedicated to thinking which is celebrated not only in one or two nations but worldwide. World Thinking Day is celebrated on 22nd February each year. However, as the name goes, the theme, as well as the day, is for the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts when they think about their ‘sisters’ concerning guiding at the global level with a global impact.

World Thinking Day is mainly managed by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. It selects the theme for the day each year as well as five different countries are taken into focus from different parts of the world to study their cultures and increase awareness.

The theme for the year 2023 has been decided to be “Our World, Our Equal Future: The Environment and Global Poverty”. Not only that but the theme for the year after that has also been decided. It is supposed to be “Our World, Our Peaceful Future: The Environment, Peace and Security”.

World Thinking Day was decided to be celebrated on 22nd February as it is the birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting and Guiding. Not only that, but it was also the birthday of Lady Olave Baden-Powell, the World Chief Guide and wife of Lord Robert.

There is indeed a great motive behind the celebration of World Thinking Day, giving the recognition that the Scouts and Guides deserve.
