Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the finest bowlers of the contemporary Indian cricket team. He specialises in swing bowling, which refers to the fast-paced technique involved in making the ball change direction mid-air, after its first point of contact with the pitch (not to be mistaken for spin-bowling; which is a relatively slow-paced technique).

On his international debut, young Bhuvi bagged three wickets against Pakistan in a T20 match in 2012!

He plays all formats of cricket, efficiently filling up the position of the role of a right-hand bowler and a batsman of the lower batting order in the Indian team.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, or Bhuvi, as he’s lovingly called by his teammates and fans, is known for calm, timid demeanour on and off the field. He was born on February 5, 1990. He belongs to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where he grew up playing gully cricket, and spending his childhood summers at cricket camps. It was his sister who encouraged him to take up training, thereby setting the stage for him becoming a fantastic national athlete.

As a child, Bhuvneshwar was highly influenced by cricked stars Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. He has been playing domestic forms of cricket since his pre-teens – representing Uttar Pradesh for the Under-15 championship.

Bhuvneshwar is seldom under the spotlight for anything but his bowling skills. However, in a cricket talk-show hosted by anchor Gaurav Kapur, he revealed the personal side of his life, talking of his childhood friend-turned-love, Nupur. Nupur and Bhuvi grew up together as neighbours and eventually started going out. They got married in 2017.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar spends most of his time training or spending it with his loved one, whom he respects deeply for supporting him through the ups and downs of his cricketing career.

He’s also a huge video-game buff – his wife had to ban him from playing PUBG!
