History has taught us that the most significant battles have been fought between kings for possession of this great land of India. The Mughals and the Afghans have ruled India for quite a few years. These battles were fought and blood was shed on the thresholds of these empires. On May 17, 1540, the Battle of Kanauj was fought in Uttar Pradesh, India.

This battle was fought between the Mughal emperor Humayun and Sher Shah of Afghanistan. Before the Battle of Kannauj, Humayun and Sher Shah participated in the Battle of Chausa. After losing the Battle of Chausa, Humayun had no army left. He asked his brother to support his army. Humayun asked all his brothers for suggestions before the battle began. Kamran Mirza denied it, but Hindal Mirza agreed to support Humayun. After managing a sufficient army, Humayun met Shah Shah at Kannauj. Humayun failed to manage his army due to a lack of coordination and unity. Humayun then left the battlefield and lost the battle. Sher Shah became the ruling ruler of Agra and Delhi.

It was a hot summer day in 1540 when the armies of Humayun and Sher Shah met at Kannauj, a historic city located in present-day Uttar Pradesh, India. The tension between the two sides was palpable, with both leaders eager to prove their worth on the battlefield.

The Battle of Kannauj was the second time these two powerful rulers had faced each other in combat. Humayun had suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Sher Shah in the Battle of Chausa just a year earlier, and was determined to reclaim his lost glory.

For almost a month, the two armies had been camped near each other without any major confrontation. But then, on that fateful day, the silence was shattered by the sound of war drums and battle cries as both sides charged towards each other.

The battle was fierce and lasted for several hours. The Mughals fought valiantly, but were ultimately no match for Sher Shah's well-trained and disciplined Afghan army. Humayun himself was wounded and forced to flee the battlefield, leaving behind his army and all their weapons and ammunition.

Sher Shah emerged victorious, but the cost of the battle was high. Many brave soldiers lost their lives, and the once-great Mughal Empire was left in shambles. Delhi and Agra, the Mughal strongholds, fell under Sher Shah's rule, while Humayun was forced to go into hiding for the next fifteen years to save his life.

The Battle of Kannauj was a turning point in Indian history, marking the rise of Sher Shah as a formidable ruler and the temporary decline of the Mughal Empire. Even today, the battle is remembered as a key moment in the struggle for power in medieval India.
